You are Important To God
Jer 1:5-11
What
kind of relationship do you have with God?
“Oh, God doesn’t know me.”
1.
Jeremiah
1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and
before
thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee,
He has known you since before you
were conceived and while in the womb.
2. Psalms
139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made:
He has carefully made you.
3.
Jeremiah
12:3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen
me,
and tried mine heart toward thee:
He has tried and tested you.
4.
I
Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty
hand
of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
I
Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
He wants to care for you.
You are
important to God. You have a unique
personality. Unique abilities. Unique talents.
1. Society may pay little attention to
you.
2. You may not be too important in your
family circle.
No one looks to you for the final
decision in matters of the home.
3. You may not be important among your
friends.
You are just one of the crowd.
4. You may not be very important in the
place where you work.
If you withdrew from you present job
tomorrow, little would be said.
You might not be missed by many.
5. You may not be known by the great tide
of humanity.
You may be just a number on a
computer to this world.
6. But my friend, you are important to
God.
You are
important because of the great price that was paid for you.
The sinless for the sinful
And the attention your prayers are
given in heaven.
Ask and ye shall receive
And the watchful eye of the Saviour.
He careth for you
And the purposes that God has
planned for you in His kingdom.
Coheirs with Christ
Now, the
Word of the LORD came to Jeremiah
This is what the LORD said to this man of
God.
Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee
in the belly I knew thee; and before thou
camest forth out of the womb I
sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet
unto the nations.
Jeremiah
said to God:
Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I [am] a child.
Then the
LORD God said back to Jeremiah:
v7 Say not, I [am] a
child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall
send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
V8 Be not afraid of
their faces: for I [am] with thee to deliver thee,
saith the LORD.
V9 Then the LORD put
forth his hand, and touched my mouth.
And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy
mouth.
V10 See, I have this
day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms,
to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw
down, to build,
and to plant.
It does
not take a scholar to see that the humble Jeremiah had been selected by God
for a very important mission.
Now, in
the same way God has a purpose for your life.
He saved you for His purpose.
The Holy Spirit indwells you for a
purpose.
The Bible has been given to you for a
purpose.
You are here in this world for a purpose.
Now
three thoughts that will drive home this truth to you:
I. Remember your place in the family of God.
1.
You have responsibilities.
You have been saved to serve.
Every child of God has definite
responsibilities unto the Lord.
One day you will stand at the
judgment seat of Christ
You must give an account of your
service
You must tell Him how you have
reacted to your responsibilities.
2.
You must honor His name.
By receiving Christ as Saviour you became a Christian.
You wear the NAME of Christ.
You must not be forgetful of your position.
Careless living does not honor His name.
3.
You must obey His commands.
We are free moral agents
We must obey His commands or face the consequences of
disobedience.
We are members of the family of God.
God expects us to obey Him.
He is calling for obedience, not arguments.
He wants us to be like the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are to be Christ like.
Now let
this first thought stay in your memory.
Remember your place in the family of God.
This is a serious matter and it must be
taken seriously by the child of God..
II. Let gratitude constantly dwell within your
heart.
Consider how great is the honor to be
called children of God.
Nothing can compare with this.
Paul said, “thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.” 2Cor9:15
So: 1. In gratitude live for
Him.
Others may make fun of you, but live for Christ.
Others may ridicule your standards, but live for Christ.
Live for Him, in spite of the customs of the World
Today.
Our Saviour said, “let your light so shine before men that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in
heaven.”
2.
In gratitude have fellowship with Him daily.
This will mean Bible study and prayer.
Read God’s Word so that you might have fellowship with Him.
Then also we must fervently pray unto our LORD.
Bring before Him your every need.
Tell Him of your love for Him, and your devotion.
blackedicate your life to Him daily.
Ill. My father was a great man. He was my hero. He taught
me to work.
He was successful.
He built a wonderful estate
for his family.
He did much with his
hands. He could do anything.
He built homes, boats,
machinery, whatever he needed.
I could never hope to attain
such accomplishments.
However, none of his effort went
into seeking the Lord.
It
is greater to come before the LORD with our needs and
pray
before Him, than anything else we might do in this world.
3.
In gratitude speak of Him often
It should not be hard to speak of
the One who has done so much for us.
“Ye shall be witnesses unto me....”
A.
We must speak of His salvation.
The message must never grow
old to us.
We must constantly remind
ourselves of all He has done for us.
B.
We must speak of His care of us.
“Casting all your cares upon
Him for He careth for you.
III. Be concerned for others. Let it be your watchword.
God is concerned for us.
We must be concerned for others.
1.
Your life must show concern.
2. Your speech must reveal your concern.
Ill. There is a
book named “how to succeed”
The author says in the book “I’m not going to beat around
the bush.
I’m going to tell it like it is. Pinpoint those people who can help you
become successful.
Forget about all others. There
is no use wasting
time with a fellow that can’t help you.”
The philosophy of this book is the exact opposite of the
Word of God.
Our concern must be for others.
For the rich, the poor, the helpless, the frail, the timid,
the young, the old.
We must live our lives for others.
Conclusion:
Too long we have been counting our Salvation as an ordinary
thing
It is not. We are
bought with a price.
Too long we have tried to order and control our lives.
We have forgotten, we are not our own.
We must let the holy Spirit lead and control us.
Too long we have forgotten a lost world.
We have forgotten a world, close to us physically.
We have forgotten a world, far away spiritually.
You are important to God.
The LORD has chosen you
Just as He chose Jeremiah,
So He is saying to each one of us, “I ordained thee, I shall send
thee,
I [am] with thee to deliver thee, I have put my words in thy
mouth.”
You are
important to God.
You are a
chosen one, you have a calling.
Listen
to the words of hymn # 51.
Some
have forgotten their position with God.
You have strayed away from His side.
You have neglected the work he has for
you.
You have not been grateful for his
blessings.
Therefore,
I call on you now to rectify the wrong.
Correct the wrong ideas of life.
Begin now to see what you are and who you
are, through faith in Christ.
