Mysteries of the Kingdom of God

Luke 8:10  And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

These mysteries are things that God had kept hidden until the revelation of Jesus Christ

Things to do with our Salvation and Eternity

Even now these “Mysteries” are hidden from the minds of the lost.

But we are given these mysteries for our understanding.

And we are to teach them to the world.

Ephesians 6:19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

1. The Incarnation - “the mystery of godliness”

I Tim. 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

A.     This mystery is God’s plan of Salvation.

a.       Sinful man is counted righteous.

b.      This is the Gospel.

c.       The story of Jesus Christ

d.      It brings Salvation to those who believe.

B.     To the lost the gospel is a mystery.

a.       The Apostle Paul often gave his testimony to help people understand the work of the gospel.

b.      The gospel of Jesus Christ changes a person.

                                                                           i.      They are changed from lost to saved.

                                                                         ii.      From condemned to forgiven.

                                                                        iii.      From doomed to immortal.

2. The Indwelling - “Christ in you, the hope of glory”

Col. 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

A.     Man doesn’t know this truth,

a.       He doesn’t know where to find God.

b.      He doesn’t know the Bible from the Koran/book of Mormon/

B.     There is a website “SURVEY.”  It says, “Please describe your religious philosophy.”  It has 15,000 entries.  Here are some of the responses.

a.       You are your own God

b.      Religious people need to get with reality and not run to a 2000-year-old book whenever they have even the smallest problem in life. There is no proof that a god exists. We are all our own personal gods, and we decide for ourselves what is right and what is wrong. These people are against everything that makes us feel good, and that is a shame. The church has no right to dictate to use how we control our minds, our bodies, who we sleep with, or otherwise. There is no devil, no god, and no Jesus. Anyone who believes a virgin can get pregnant is just STUPID! QUIT RUNNING FROM REALITY!!

c.       I need evidence. I only have a few shblacks of that now.

d.      Islam is a complete way of life.

e.       Even though I am Catholic I don't believe there is one "right" religion. I find practices in my own religion that I don't agree with. I am also fascinated by other religions such as the Native American beliefs.

f.        I do not believe in religion. I believe in my own and other's spirituality.

g.       My religious philosophy is that what one does and believes is between himself and god.

h.       What is real, is real. What is not real, is not real. What we believe about either changes neither.

i.         Religion is way too political right now. It should be based on your beliefs and morals.

j.        Religion could be good but has been perverted by fundies becoming a tool of bigotry and hatblack towards others that don't agree with them.

k.      Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. If you do not have him you will spend an eternity in Hell.

C.     Man never guessed that God would indwell His children.

a.       Yet this indwelling is the “seal” of our Salvation.

Eph 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

3. The Church - “being fellowheirs and partakers of his promise in Christ”

Eph. 3:4-6  Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

A.     The Church is a mystery.

a.       Before the flood “righteousness” was limited to a bloodline.

b.      From Abraham God revealed Himself to a “Nation.”

c.       But from Christ He works within the Church.

B.     In this church age Believers form a ‘body’ that does God’s will.

a.       To the world all “churches” are alike.

b.      But to the Saviour there are churches doing His will, which He claims.

c.       From HIS view, many so-called churches are not churches AT ALL.

C.     Jews and Gentiles stand alike in the Church.

a.       There are no different requirements for a Jew in the Church.

4. Iniquity - Satan and the Antichrist

II Thes. 2:7-8  For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

A.     Iniquity is bodily contained in Satan and His Antichrist.

a.       The Antichrist will rise up in the last day.

b.      Then there will be the unfolding of the tribulation found in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ written by John.

B.     Christians indwelt with the Spirit prohibit the Antichrist from being revealed.

a.       When we are taken out of the way, the rapture, then he will reveal himself.

5. The Rapture - “We shall all be changed”

I Cor. 15:51-52  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

            A.  The mystery is that we don’t have to all die off for the Antichrist to appear.

We will be raptublack up to Christ in the clouds.

            B.  Believers will be changed from a corruptible body to an incorruptible.

6. The Blindness of Israel - “the partial blindness”

Rom. 11:25  For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

A.     Blindness makes it impossible for Israel to know the truth of the Gospel.

a.       “In part” seems to infer that some Jews won’t be blind to Christ.

b.      We see this to be true here at Northwest Baptist Church.

c.       But by far most of the Jewish people are blind to Jesus Christ.

B.     During the Glorious Second Coming,

a.       Christ will gather all the House of Israel in the Plains of Jezreel

b.      He will speak to them and win them.

c.       Study the “gathering of Israel.”

d.      In a concordance: Look up gathering or gather.

7. The Kingdom of Christ - “in the dispensation of the fulness of times”

Eph. 1:9-10  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him

A.     God has revealed that all will be in one great Kingdom of Heaven.

B.     It has always been His purpose to have a Kingdom of His people.

C.     Jesus Christ is the central figure in eternity.

8. The Gospel

Ephesians 6:19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
