Word for Today: You Have Everything You Need
Today’s Scripture: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1 (ESV)
Welcome to today’s Higher Praise devotional. Six simple words. One of the most powerful statements in all of Scripture.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
David, who wrote this psalm, knew what it meant to be a shepherd. He spent years protecting sheep—leading them to food, guiding them to water, keeping them safe from predators.
And he realized: that’s exactly what God does for me.
When God is your shepherd, you have everything you need.
Not everything you want. Not everything the world says you should have. But everything you truly need.
Provision. Protection. Peace. Guidance. Rest.
Maybe today you’re worried about how the bills are going to get paid. Maybe you’re anxious about what’s next. Maybe you feel like you’re running on empty.
But if the Lord is your shepherd, you can exhale.
He sees what you need before you ask. He’s already preparing the table. He’s already leading you beside still waters—even if you can’t see them yet.
Here at Higher Praise, we want to remind you: you don’t have to hustle for your worth. You don’t have to strive for His attention. You just have to follow.
Today, let that sink in. The God who holds the universe is personally looking after you. You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are cared for.
Be encouraged. Your shepherd has you.
Prayer for Today:
Lord, thank You for being my shepherd. I trust that You will provide everything I need. Help me rest in Your care and stop striving. You are enough for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
